Costa del Sol
From the dazzling yachts in Marbella marina to the ancient splendor of Granada, Spain’s Sunshine Coast really does have something for everyone. With golden beaches, and one of the finest climates in Europe, the Costa del Sol is the holiday playground of the rich and famous.
Yet only a few miles inland, Spain at its most traditional can be found in the tiny, unspoilt villages in the high Sierra Nevada and Sierra Bermeja mountain ranges.
Nestling in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja, between Marbella and Estepona, the WimPen resort of Club Bena Vista surely enjoys the most beautiful location on the Costa del Sol.
The historic cities of Seville and Cordoba are within an easy drive. Visit Jerez, producer of the world’s finest sherries and enjoy a tour of a local vineyard and a complimentary glass or two. Ronda, a classic Spanish village, nestling amongst rugged hills, has quaint white houses with traditional red tiled roofs set in winding streets.
The place to be seen on the Costa del Sol, however is Marbella, only half an hour away from the WimPen resort. Sip a cooling drink in the pretty Plaza del los Naranjos, watch the famous faces go by. Marbella is the resort of the jet set, but still retains the charm of a typical Spanish village. Take a stroll down to the marina at nearby Puerto Banus to see some of the most expensive yachts in the world bobbing in the clear blue sea. There’s a superb selection of fashionable café bars, restaurants and nightclubs in both Marbella and Puerto Banus. Gibraltar, the most southerly point of mainland Spain is also within easy driving distance, and well worth the visit.
